Actual cover of Greaves' book

The recent release of a book on Amazon.com resulted in anger, outrage and threats. Thousands of people protested the book, and prepared to boycott Amazon if it wasn’t removed.

For a while, Amazon held firm. They suggested that refusing to sell a book would be censorship, and said people should be allowed to “make their own purchasing decisions.” Before long, however, the book disappeared from the popular website.

A Book About Pedophiles
Just the name of the book was enough to spark rage and disbelief. It was a self-published e-book called “The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child-Lover’s Code of Conduct”. Its author, Phillip R. Greaves II, claimed that his goal was to “make pedophile situations safer for those juveniles that find themselves involved in them, by establishing certain rules for these adults to follow.”

In his book’s description, Greaves wrote that he hoped his work would “result in less hatred and perhaps lighter sentences” for people he refers to as Pedosexuals. That alone was enough. Greaves appeared to be supporting child molesters. Most people who saw his statements were incensed.

People Protest Pedophilia
A few people defended Amazon, and argued that the book is protected under the First Amendment. Most, however, expressed disgust for this e-book, and Amazon’s decision to sell it. Hundreds of people took the time to leave comments, primarily to chastise Amazon.

One comment read: “”It is ILLEGAL to molest children, and for Amazon to promote such is insane. I’m an abuse survivor, and am OUTRAGED Amazon would choose to promote this nonsense. I will not be purchasing anything from your website until this is removed.” Thousands agreed. Amazon relented.

Sex Offenders And Child Molesters
The public spoke loudly. They did not want this book to be available. It allegedly supports child molestation, and attempts to make life easier for “adults who love children.” While it may have been legal to sell, the will of the people was honored. Greaves’ e-book is no longer available.
